We are a public, tuition-free, anti-racist collaborative community school serving 6th-12th grade in South Seattle.
RVLA is proud to be featured in the #CanopyProject, a collective research project that enables educators to better understand how schools are innovating across the US. This national study launched in 2019 as a collaborative national effort to highlight equitable, student-centered innovation in K–12. Today, the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) and Transcend are releasing new and updated information about 161 innovative school designs, including RAINIER VALLEY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY. The data is available on a new interactive data portal that makes it easy to browse the school data and view individual school profiles.
In a historically challenging moment for K-12 education, elevating examples of learning environments designing for equity and student-centered learning is more important than ever. We are constantly searching for ways to strengthen our vision and mission of antiracism, collaborative community, & leadership in order to provide a liberatory education while at the same time maintaining a highly rigorous academic outcome for our scholars. Scholar Voices
Being a scholar at Rainier Valley Leadership Academy is important to me because it’s the community I live in. I’m excited to partner with you to make RVLA a better place for people. Rainier Valley Leadership Academy has impacted my growth as a scholar by teaching me how to be myself. We have this mentor group and every morning we make a circle and share our feelings and how we are doing. Being a scholar at RVLA is important to me because I got friends and I got teachers that care about me and support me. |
