Dress Code

The scholar’s attire is primarily the responsibility of the parents or legal guardians. Rainier Valley Leadership Academy is responsible for ensuring that scholar’s attire does not disrupt or interfere with the educational process which includes the health, safety, and emotional well-being of all scholars. Scholars' attire should not contribute to any hostile or intimidating atmosphere for scholars.

Bottoms	Jeans Khakis Skirts (cannot expose undergarments during sitting or play) Shorts Sweat Pants Leggings/Yoga pants (cannot expose undergarments)	- Bottoms with the following o Rips o Holes o Cuts o Tears - Pajama Pants (unless notified of school-wide incentive/dress day) - Visible underwear or boxers
Shoes	- Shoes with the following Closed-toe Closed heel Rubber soles	- Shoes with the following Hard sole (i.e., cowboy boots) Slippers Slides Sandals Flip Flops
Headwear	Religious Headwear	- The following are not allowed to be worn in the classroom: Caps/Knit hats The Hood on the Hoodie
Outerwear	The following can be worn to school and removed upon entering the classroom: Coats, Jackets, Sweaters, Hoodies (if not in RVLA approved colors)	Sunglasses (documented medical use only) Masks that conceal the face (except for religious, medical, and/or health related purposes)

** Clothing should not contribute to any hostile or intimidating atmosphere for scholars; therefore, the following will necessitate a call home for a change of clothing:

Violent, sexual, and/or discriminatory language and images
Language or images that encourage the use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or drugs
Language or images that depict illegal activity and/or create a hostile environment. Examples include:

- Intimidating language or images
- Hate Speech, gang/hate group affiliation, profanity, or pornography
