The Seattle Seahawks and Delta Air Lines, the Official Airline Partner of the team, launched a new community-focused program – "Delta Community Captains." The program is designed to recognize local individuals or organizations in the greater Seattle area that are making a difference in the community by naming them as honorary team captains.
The Seahawks and Delta will name three Delta Community Captains per quarter in four categories that align with shared company values: education (July-September), military (October-December), equity/social justice (January-March), and the environment (April-June). KK is in the 10th grade at Rainier Valley Leadership Academy. We recently sat down with KK to learn more about her educational journey and experience at RVLA.

The Zeta Upsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with Omega Charities of Seattle, a 501c3 entity, recently held its 1st annual Book Bag Drive to ensure that local students have the necessary tools to be successful in the classroom. The organization, founded on the principals of community service and uplifting communities, set out to provide book bags and school supplies for 50 students attending the Rainier Valley Academy and Washington Middle School in Seattle. Charter schools experienced more growth in 2020-21 — the first full year of the pandemic— than they’ve seen in the past six years, according to preliminary data released Wednesday from the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
America’s public charter school sector is expanding and meeting the needs of families and students. Data obtained by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools indicates charter school enrollment grew 7% in the 2020-21 school year, while district public school enrollment decreased in every state.
A diverse group of Washington state educators — representing public schools, independent schools, and Educational Service Districts — collaborated to produce this document. They solicited feedback from parents, students, teachers and multilingual experts across the state prior to publication.
